Have you missed the Taster Session?

After the IGCSE exams candidates at Aldenham are asked to return to school to receive taster sessions in their new A-level subjects.  Most candidate make the session but some may miss it due to work-experience or the fact that they are an external entrant.

The taster session starts with an introduction to the course followed by a lecture on the topic of Finite State Machines.  The presentation that is delivered to students is found below:

Practical Task

During the session candidates will be asked to solve some problems using a programming environment called Kara.  Kara is an educational programming environment where you can control the movement of a ladybird called kara using finite state machines.

If you miss the session then we advise you to:

  • download the program from here
  • choose multi-kara
  • read through the manual by clicking on the question mark (?)
  • click the ‘exercises’ button and select a simple exercise to complete
