Computing Club

vex-picturesComputing Club is a chance for budding computer scientists to develop their programming skills outside of the constraints of a lesson.

The Computing department offers two extra curricular clubs for students to learn about computing outside of lesson time:

  • Programming Club:  This runs on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 4pm until 5.30pm. Here pupils seek to complete the Code Academy python programming course and then move on to solving a range of programming challenges.
  • Robotics Club:  This club run on a Thursday Afternoon.  Students work in teams of 4 to build a robot that solves a given problem.  The top performers will be entered into the VEX robotics challenge the following year.  We enter pupils into two regional events:
    • Vex IQ Challenge (Years 7, 8 and 9)
    • VEX Robotics Competition (Year 10, 11, 12 and 13)

The junior competition is run to identify talented pupils who want to continue with the competition throughout middle and upper school.
